Get Ready–These Are the 12 Hair Trends We’ll Be Seeing Everywhere in 2025 (2025)

January is rapidly approaching—and there's no time like the present to revamp your look. "New Year, new you, new hair" is our motto heading into 2025 as we bid farewell to the haircuts and colors of yesteryear. Taking a trip down memory lane, shorter hair reigned supreme in 2024, with flippy bobs and French bobs dominating the trend cycles. For the longer manes, layers were the "it" girl, with the most popular ask being butterfly cuts. As for hair colors, quite a few options prevailed, from black cherry to chocolate brown to golden blonde.

But, while plenty of new styles are on the block (hello, ponytail cuffs and Chappell Roan red), expect to see a few familiar faces hang around come the new year. Accessorizing your 'will continue to be all the rage, with accessories "taking on a refined, luxurious feel in 2025," according toChristine Bellemare, co-founder, owner, and lead stylist atMaven A Collectin Boston. "Think silk and velvet bows for low ponytails or romantic braids, gold cuffs to elevate sleek ponytails, and minimalist barrettes or gem clips for a polished touch."

As we saw this year, the hair color categories will remain divided into two groups, with warm tones competing against cool tones for favor. "Brunettes are taking center stage with warm caramel and chestnut tones or cool, natural browns that mimic “born-with-it” color," says Bellemare, "For blondes, the trend leans toward subtle, lived-in highlights with natural roots and cooler tones for winter."

Ahead, the pros share the haircuts and colors that will be everywhere in 2025, including the iconic blunt bob and undone, '90s-style updos.

Offering a contemporary take on traditional box braids, bohemian knotless braids are set to be a major hit this upcoming year. This style blends the lightweight, tension-free advantages of knotless braiding with the romantic touch of curly or wavy ends, making it a perfect choice for those seeking comfort and flair.

"To achieve this look, work with a stylist skilled in knotless techniques and request the incorporation of water wave or loose curl extensions at the ends of the braids. The result is a seamless blend of sleek braids and soft, textured curls," says Kimble. "Maintenance is simple: Regularly oil your scalp, and use mousse or a light styling gel to keep flyaways in check while refreshing the curls as needed."

Perfectly (yet somehow, effortlessly) twisted, tousled, pinned, and out-of-place updos are a romantic trend that will continue into the new year. Think Nicole Kidman and Pamela Anderson circa the '90s. To get the look, Bellemare says, "Start with loose curls or waves, add a light texturizing spray, and pin hair up while leaving soft tendrils around the face. Finish with a silk bow or gold cuff for an elevated look that’s perfect for weddings or nights out."
