Paula has dedicated her life to public service. For the last twenty years she has served Florida children and families in various capacities with Children’s Home Society, Daniel, Inc., Child Protection Team, Guardian Ad Litem Program and Regional Counsel.
Paula was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where most of her large family still resides. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. After graduating, Paula moved to Florida and was engaged to Sam Bartlett, now her husband of nearly twenty years.
In 1998, they moved from Palatka to Jacksonville. She then applied and was accepted into Florida Coastal School of Law, and worked full-time for the Child Protection Team.
After law school Paula worked with local attorney and Center for Missing and Exploited Children founder, Jay Howell, pursuing civil recovery for victims of crime. She then took up the cause of children advocating for the best interests of children in foster care and mental health facilities with the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program. She continued advocating for Florida families with the Office of Regional Counsel, until she left state service in 2011.
Paula became a small business owner, opening her own law practice, Bartlett Law, P.A., in 2012. In 2014, she ran for Florida’s 4th Congressional district against the long-time incumbent. Although the campaign was not successful, it provided a great learning experience. This year Paula decided she can do more immediate good for her neighbors by running as the Democratic candidate for the office of Duval County Clerk of Courts. In a nutshell, Paula is a Jacksonville mother, wife, lawyer, volunteer, and small business owner. She’s our neighbor, our friend and with your help, our next Clerk of Courts.
